CDS

Combined Defense Services (CDS) examination is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for recruitment to the Indian Military Academy, Officers Training Academy, Naval Academy and Air Force Academy. Only candidates who are unmarried and have completed their graduation are eligible to sit for this exam. Successful candidates are admitted into the respective academies after an interview is conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB).

 

Eligibility for CDS 2016

Age Limit, Gender and Marital Status

Indian Maritime Academy (IMA)

Unmarried Male aspirants aged between 18 and 22 years are eligible to apply.

Indian Naval Academy (INA)

Unmarried Male aspirants aged between 18 and 22 years of age are eligible to apply.

Indian Air force Academy (IAA)

Unmarried Male aspirants aged between 18 and 22 years of age are eligible to apply.

For Officers Training Academy 
(SSC Course for Men)

Unmarried/Married Male aspirants aged between 18 and 22 years of age are eligible to apply.

For Officers Training Academy 
[SSC Course for Women (Non-Technical)]

Unmarried/Issueless Widows/Issueless Divorcees aged between 18 and 22 years of age are eligible to apply.

Please note that the date of birth recorded in the Matriculation/ Higher Secondary School Passing Certificate will be concerned as final.

Educational Qualification

For IMA and Officer’s Training Academy -Degree from a recognized university or equivalent.

For Indian Naval Academy– Engineering Degree from a recognized university or institution.

For Air Force Academy -Degree from a recognized university (with Physics and Chemistry as subjects in 10+2) or Bachelor of Engineering. Students studying in the final year of degree course and are yet to pass the final degree examination are eligible to apply for CDS 2015. However they are required to submit the proof of passing degree examination to the respective headquarters of the service which they intend to apply for.

Arithmetic, Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, Menstruation, Statistics

General Knowledge

Questions are based on current topics, science, history of India, geography, etc.

English

This paper tests candidates’ knowledge in the English language.
